HISTORY
17th Century
- In the year 1700s, The British government colonized the United States of America. But the tension increased between the American Colonies and the British government. Due to British taxation but had no representation in the British Parliament.
- In the year 1732, they were 13 original colonies, and their population multiplied, and each of them had a local government.
- In the year 1775-1781, the tensions led to the American Revolution.
- On July 4, 1776, the Americans announced their victory against the British war. The same year they adopted the Declaration of Independence. America announced that they are free from Great Britain.
- They passed the US Constitution in the year 1788.
- George Washington, the first president, took office in the year 1789.
18th Century
- In the mid-1800s, they purchased the Louisiana Territory. Due to the population growth over the west coast.
- The Oregon Treaty gave the US control over the Pacific Northwest in 1846 because of the migration growth in the country.
- Despite the growing population, the US undergo some severe issues. Between the non-slave state and the slave state that led to the Civil War. It lasted from the year 1861-1865 when the Confederate States were defeated.
19th Century
- In the late 19th to the early 20th century, the racial tensions remained.
- In 1914, the US stayed neutral and continued to grow during World War 1 and later joined the allies in 1917.
20th Century
- The great depression began as the country continue to develop into a world power, and the economy started to suffer until World War II in 1929.
- Between the wars, there was an economic boom called the Roaring Twenties. When people became more affluent, and a bust called the Great Depression when most were poorer.
21st Century
- The World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington DC was subject to attack on September 11, 2001, which led them to pursue a policy of world government, particularly in the Middles East.
- The United States faces a lot of government issues since which led debate between two parties.
- Aside from the highest cost of health care, social issues such as abortion and gay marriage are one of the main topics. But many of the American society has come to accept that gay marriage and abortion are reasonable with valid reasons.
- The Liberal wants a big government while the Tea party wants a small government.
- One of the many trends the US currently deal with is immigration because of people from Latin America, Asia and Mexico wanted to come to the United States.
- The environmental issues are also one of the big concern not only in the United States but around the world. These issues led to the creations of green jobs and jobs that create renewable energy.
GEOGRAPHY
- The United States of America is the world’s third largest country in size and nearly the third largest in terms of population. Located in North America, the state is bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean and to the east by the Atlantic Ocean. Along the northern border in Canada and the southern border in Mexico.
- It consists of 50 States.
- It is one of the powerful countries and is one of the largest economies in the world.
- More than twice the size of the European Union, the United States has high mountains in the West and a vast central plain.
- The lowest point in the country is in Death Valley which is at -282 feet (-86 meters) and the highest peak is Denali (Mt. McKinley) at 20,320 feet (6,198 meters).

- The US culture derived from Native Americans, Latin Americans, Africans, and Asians. Throughout its history, the United States has been a nation of immigrants.
- The population is diverse with people from all over the world seeking refuge and a better way of life.
- They also called Americans a “melting pot” because of the mixture in different cultures and traditions they integrate and differs each other, but they can embrace the American ways of life in many other ways.
